studio_01 was founded as a partnership between designers Alex Knezo and Akinori Hamada in early 2012. Based in Tokyo, Japan, studio_01 works in projects ranging from architecture, lighting, furniture, and branding. While their designs typically have digitally designed elements, they do not allow the advances in technology to "over-enhance" and over complicate their work. Rather than complicated forms, they see user customizability as main force in future design and work to include such ideas in their work. With their different backgrounds, their design aesthetic typically updates Japanese and Western elements of design without taking them too far into the future both in form and idea.
As of fall 2013, Knezo
and Hamada will continue to periodically collaborate under the name of
studio_01; however, both partners are in the process of opening two new design offices, Knezo Design Studio and Aki Hamada Architects respectively.
studio_01は浜田晶則とアレックス・ニゾの共同主宰によるデザイン事務所です。主に建築、照明、家具、ブランディングなどのデザインを手がけています。先端的なデジタルテクノロジーを用いてデザインをしていますが、デジタルを単なる目的や手段だけではなく、新しい価値を生み出す思想として捉えています。一つのモノをつくるのではなく、一つのシステムをつくることで、パーソナライズできる汎用性・普遍性のある価値を生み出すこと。それを日本の文化や哲学から学び、フォルムとアイディアの両方の側面から未来に向けて現在を更新しようと試みています。
2013年の秋からはプロジェクトベースのユニットとして活動しながら、二人がそれぞれの新しいデザイン事務所で活動を展開していきます。
浜田＿晶則 Akinori_Hamada
1984年富山県生まれ。
2010年首都大学東京建築都市コース卒業。
2012年東京大学大学院建築学専攻修了。
同年studio_01を設立。
せんだいデザインリーグ2010ファイナリスト、第五回ダイワハウスコンペティション優秀賞、第15回北陸の家づくり設計コンペ北日本新聞社賞（岡崎真也と共同）、新建築2010年10月号表紙「naminoma」（他5名と共同）、トウキョウ建築コレクション2012 タルディッツ賞など、受賞多数。
著作に「SNS住宅論」、「ゼネラリストとしての建築家をめざして」（新建築震災特別号寄稿）など。
